Hi! I like to snap photos and give them a low-res, low-color feel. I started with making a couple of desktop backgrounds for myself for the Z80 operating system SymbOS (http://www.symbos.de) - the Amstrad CPC version of which supports four colors, to explain my starting point. This was about 2007, and I just used a couple photos and pieces of art I liked... so strictly personal use stuff that I don't plan on releasing, if I could even find any of it! Four years later I recalled this, and decided to experiment a little bit. I had an iPod touch 4 at this time, so... not the greatest camera in the world, but it's something small I could take around with me and snap some photos on! Since I'd gotten it, I always tended to like to take photos of random things and scenes that interested me. I played around with the techniques used to make my desktop backgrounds for SymbOS back in the day, and before long, I had some 4x versions I could use as wallpapers on my laptop and desktop! Some friends seemed interested in them so I started making some versions for more resolutions, and refining my technique some more. I eventually started making them in only 2x versions because not every resolution I wanted to make would evenly divide, and I didn't want my 1680x1050 versions to be more crisp than, say, my 1920x1200 versions. I continued on with the four-color aesthetic for a while, using a combination of my own palettes and the Commodore +4 palette. Eventually, though, I played with higher-color backgrounds, shifting over to 16-color shots and beyond, in a few cases. I grew to enjoy snapping shots, but unfortunately mobile phone cameras aren't necessarily professional quality. I found the reduction in color could even make photos snapped on the weakest cameras somewhat palatable, and I ran with it! Eventually I upgraded my equipment - from the iPod to a Galaxy Player which I used for a few years, then an iPod touch 6 and a Lumia for a couple of photos before I got my Honor 8 and my Minolta MN12Z, which were my primary devices for a few years. I still use the Minolta on rare occasions I need a camera with optical zoom, but my current phone has been upgraded to a Moto G8 Plus. It's crazy how far cell phone cameras have come over the past decade, and I've not even touched some of the fancier camera setups like the Galaxy S21! Eventually I'd like to get a DSLR and try my hand at some less-processed shots. Some of what I see on sites like InterfaceLIFT is incredible, and it's honestly what drove me to keep going, even if my style varies so differently. Maybe once our world is in a saner state and I can start going places again, we'll have some fun shots from all over the east coast US! Thanks for browsing my directory, and I hope to eventually actually turn this into some sort of webpage. Only been putting it off for nine years by now, hell yeah!
