A statement regarding Zelda Classic

Unfortunately, I don't really see anything coming from me in the realm of Zelda Classic anymore. While it was massively influential in my life for a great number of years, and it provided a much needed outlet for creativity, my connection to it has waned over recent years, and I find myself looking back to the 2000s (and early 2010s) with nostalgia and a bit of sadness more than I find myself looking to the future and hoping to create new quests. This does mean, unfortunately, that A Link to the Shadows 2 will most likely never see the light of day.

It's a shame, really. When I began work on it in March 2010, I was hoping to have it out around 2013! Once the initial momentum dried up partly due to losing the periods between classes in which I used to work on the quest and my life rapidly began to change, along with various quirks in Zelda Classic (and quest) development, it became apparent to me that although I may prod at it sometimes, or develop a bit of momentum for a brief period, I don't think it's reasonable to assume I'll ever finish the project. The final nail in the coffin was the weird branching out of development of Zelda Classic, and the dropping of Linux support from the most recent versions, even despite the vast performance deficit it incurred compared to its Windows counterpart.

I feel a bit like I should apologize to anyone I may have strung along over the years who was excited to play it. I'll probably throw up the last demo I created from around 2012 at some point, though, so you can at least see where I was going with it! I've also made a few other quests as well which I'm pleased with, and although a couple of them aren't posted here yet, I will eventually get them up here to showcase.

This isn't the end of the road. I've gotten into other creative avenues like photography, and you can check some of my shots out under the wallpaper link above! I'd like to actually get a gallery up and running sometime, but at the current time my life's just too busy. Keep an eye out, though!

And remember: anything is possible. I could be looking back at this post in 2025 and laughing about it after putting out a few more quests. Who knows what the future may bring? That said, please don't get your hopes up. Thanks for the years of support to anyone I've met within the ZC community, and for helping me get my footing in life at a time when I was vulnerable.
